Green Shoes Arts have been designing and delivering arts based projects in Barking and Dagenham and neighbouring boroughs, specifically arts leadership programmes for young people and families since January 2009. We are constantly exploring new ways to build bridges between individuals and their communities.

The projects below have been developed and implemented based on specific needs:

Rising Stars Youth Theatre is a youth led drama club based in Dagenham. The senior group (aged 14-19) design and deliver all aspects of its activities with our support, including running the sessions themselves and directing their performances. The junior group (aged 11-14) have a direct input into the decision making process; junior members begin to gain basic knowledge and skills in performance and leadership. Have a look at the youth theatre page for more information.

The Arts Leadership Programme engages young people, aged 14-19, in positive activity, enabling them to learn the skills needed to deliver workshops and create performances. It also supports young people with advice on further training and accreditation. The programme is designed to be delivered on a specific art form; either Drama, Dance or Arts & Craft.

The Shout Out Project aims to engage young people with various art forms by exploring and developing personal ideas about issues relevant to them. It enables participants to understand the role the arts play in relation to expressing their options and taking action.

The Make A Play & Make A Film  Projects aim to give a wider notion of theatre or film making and an understanding of all the aspects that are involved in creating performance/ film, with a hands- on approach. Children and young people will build their skills in creative arts, as well as use their time constructively to produce a performance or short film.

The Arts Days & Family Play Days Projects engage children and their families in a series of art activities or games giving them the opportunity to cultivate and/or explore their artistic skills as well as having fun and playing together. It aims to give children the chance to be creative and imaginative and spend quality time with their family.

Have a look at our education project page, as most of our projects can be adapted to be delivered in other settings.
