Green Shoes Arts believes in the power of the arts to take people on a journey. Each step on this journey leads to creativity, self-discovery and a closer connection to the wider world…
During our first year of growth, Green Shoes Arts creative team has researched, developed and implemented the projects below. These projects are based on specific schools’ requirements. We tailor make our projects in conjunction with those who identify the need of the activity in their setting and the opportunities involved in such.
The VoiceBox Project aims to empower young people through drama and voice coaching exercises to gain confidence in using and feeling comfortable with words. The aim of the project would be that participants will feel able to approach the next stages of their lives with added self-assurance, assertion and self-belief. As we understand that the transition between a school environment and entering ‘adult’ life can present young people with numerous challenges. Aimed at Year 5/6 , Year 10/11 and ESL groups.
The In a Positive Light aims to use the creative arts to raise self-esteem and confidence in young women, exploring issues around self-esteem and self-worth. The project supports young women to feel good about themselves through creative activities, to gain awareness of and take some control over some factors that determine low self-esteem. Aimed at Year 5/6 and Secondary Years.
The A Step Inside aims to raise understanding within young peole about their present transitional phase, for example from primary school to secondary school or from not being in education and engaging once again with schools . The aim of the project is to look at some of the expectations, issues and concerns that young people have around the concept of change and transitions and write short stories that conveys some of these issues. The project involves initial practical drama sessions followed by fun creative writing exercises and script work. Aimed at Year 5/6/7 and NEET groups.
The Social Skills & Drama aims to give young people with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) an opportunity to expand on and practise their social and communication skills through drama and creative arts.
