This year, we began our full, ongoing dance leadership programme for 14-18 year olds. In partnership with local schools, we bring together young people interested in dance to learn new technique and have the opportunity to perform but also to develop their knowledge of the dance industry. The programme includes workshops in leadership skills which the dancers then put into practice by volunteering to support or lead dance workshops in schools or the local community. They also take up a placement and complete their Arts Award as well as learning from industry professionals about their potential next steps.

Over the course of the year, the group have delivered six workshops and performed five :mes as part of local and regional showcases.

During the summer, GSA facilitated ‘Dance Leaders Out and About’, a two week project at Eastbury Manor House which enabled young people to experience different styles of dance and bring them together for a promenade performance around the House. The piece drew in a great audience and was a wonderful experience in how to create performance in a non-‐ traditional space.
